World Health Day 2021: Building a fairer and healthier world

Health: According to the WHO, the slogan of the World Health Day 2021 campaign, which is celebrated today on April 7, is “to build a fairer and healthier world”.

Some people can live healthier lives and have better access to services than others, due to inequalities in their position, status and voice in society and the conditions in which they are born, grow up, live, work and their age.

Around the world, some groups not only have limited access to quality health services, but also struggle to have quality of life, housing, education, job opportunities, safety, clean water and air.

The groups that suffer the most from these disadvantages are often those who suffer ethnic and gender discrimination. These conditions can lead to unnecessary suffering, preventable illness, and premature death. And it damages our societies and economies. Still in 2021, despite how advanced health technologies are, World Health Day is commemorated amid those differences.

Health equity is the centerpiece of the COVID-19 recovery.

If equity is achieved in this area, we will have as a result a world where everyone has living and working conditions conducive to good health, where health information systems are configured to identify populations in vulnerable situations, where the civil society and individuals are integrated in the search for solutions.

As part of its corporate responsibility policies, the Brice Law Firm, Marín Oráa & Asociados, adopted measures to guarantee medical attention to each and every one of its workers and professionals; but we also consider it necessary and appropriate to sensitize those who have the leadership role in health matters, as well as each and every one of us individually and collectively, so that we can all contribute to overcoming this serious pandemic.

Vaccination is a priority.

Among the priorities that we must consider: following the rules of social distancing, confinement and biosafety, as well as ensuring timely and free access to health services, the most important to everyone at this time is the vaccination program against COVID-19, starting with the most vulnerable or highest-risk population groups.
